The Asa La Marina Hotel, a creation by Valencian interior designer Julio Guixeres, exemplifies how the essence of the Mediterranean and local craftsmanship can transform into a design that is warm, inviting, and surprising. Situated in a commercial area surrounded by large infrastructures, the hotel stands out as an unexpected refuge where light, materials, and a connection to the environment blend uniquely.

Mediterranean inspiration and local craftsmanship

“We were inspired by the Mediterranean and local craftsmanship. Light and the sea were present throughout the entire design process,” explains Guixeres, emphasizing the importance of capturing the coastal atmosphere of Valencia. The project draws from the natural colors and textures of the region: the raw tones of sand, the golden hues of sunlight, and terracotta accents intertwine with artisanal elements to create spaces that resonate with the environment and its cultural roots.

Materials that speak of the sea and the earth

To achieve this deep connection with nature, the design team carefully selected every material. “We combined wood with ceramics, following the Mediterranean palette,” notes Guixeres. These choices not only infuse warmth into the design but also reinforce the hotel’s Mediterranean identity, creating a balance between natural and artisanal elements.

Integration into a commercial environment

The hotel is located in a commercial area surrounded by large infrastructures and industrial businesses, presenting a significant design challenge. “The biggest challenge was integrating the hotel into its surroundings while giving it its own identity,” says Guixeres. To address this, the hotel’s exterior adopts soft colors and gray tones that harmonize with the urban environment. However, once inside, visitors are greeted by a warm and luminous interior that surprises and delights at first glance.

A design that surprises and ecmbraces

“We wanted to create that surprise when the client enters and doesn’t expect to find such a cozy and pleasant atmosphere,” the designer explains. This contrast between the understated exterior and the welcoming interior strengthens the hotel’s identity as a unique space. The use of ceramics throughout the design enhances the sense of warmth and comfort that defines the Asa La Marina Hotel.

A mediterranean experience

Julio Guixeres’ project not only integrates seamlessly into its urban setting but also offers a sensory experience that connects deeply with the Mediterranean spirit. The Asa La Marina Hotel is a haven where light, colors, and materials tell a story of authenticity and elegance. It’s a place where every detail has been thoughtfully designed to surprise and embrace, transporting guests to a world of tranquility and beauty inspired by the sea and the earth.
