Dr. Juanjo López Clinic

The Dr. Juanjo López Trauma Clinic, located in the Alba building in the heart of Murcia, is an architectural project that seamlessly combines functionality, design, and high-quality materials. Designed by architect Juanjo Rojo and his firm BASICfactory, this 100 m² clinic specializing in pediatric sports trauma care has been carefully crafted to provide the best possible experience for patients by integrating innovative architecture with a meticulous selection of materials.

From the entrance to the consultation rooms, every aspect of the design optimizes the medical workflow while creating a welcoming and harmonious environment. In this process, TAU Cerámica has played a key role, offering surfaces and finishes that enhance the aesthetics of the space while ensuring comfort for both patients and healthcare professionals.

An entrance that transforms the patient experience

The clinic’s distinctive entrance is not just an access point but a carefully designed transition that shapes the visitor’s experience. This unique space serves as a threshold, guiding patients from the bustling city center into a peaceful and soothing atmosphere.

To achieve this effect, TAU Cerámica flooring was chosen for its ideal texture and color, creating an inviting and immersive environment. Additionally, the use of carpet plays a crucial role in the transition, absorbing external noise and enhancing the sense of calm as visitors step inside. This design choice is also a subtle tribute to the tennis court where Carlos Alcaraz achieved a historic milestone in the world of sports, adding a layer of significance to the space.

Crossing the entrance feels like stepping into a haven of tranquility and comfort, an experience carefully designed to make each patient feel welcome from the very first moment.

Materials that transform spaces

The careful selection of high-quality materials has been a fundamental part of the clinic’s concept, and once again, Juanjo Rojo relies on TAU Cerámica products to bring his vision to life. The ceramic floors and wall coverings have been meticulously chosen to balance durability, hygiene, and aesthetics.

Inside, the differentiated flooring visually and functionally defines the medical stations, helping to guide patient flow intuitively. Every surface, finish, and color has been carefully considered to create a harmonious environment where comfort and functionality come together seamlessly.

A design that flows with the space

The clinic’s design incorporates organic and sinuous shapes, reflecting an innovative architectural approach. Inspired by the ‘round design’ concept, the space moves away from rigid, traditional structures in favor of curved lines that evoke a sense of movement and fluidity.

This commitment to biomimetic architecture mimics natural forms, fostering a harmonious environment that connects the built space with its surroundings. The spatial fluidity, achieved through curves and the seamless continuity of TAU Cerámica materials, allows for smooth transitions between different areas of the clinic, ensuring an intuitive and welcoming experience for patients.

An aesthetic tribute to tradition

Beyond innovation, the project also pays tribute to the region’s architectural history and heritage. TAU Cerámica, through its Cosmopolita finish, revives the characteristic texture of Borriol stone, a historical construction material used in the province of Castellón since the 17th century.

This choice not only adds a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic but also enhances the tactile experience of those walking through the clinic. The subtly orange-peel-like texture creates a connection to natural materials, adding warmth and a unique character to the space.

A space designed for the patient

Beyond aesthetics and innovation, the main goal of this project was to create an environment that inspires trust and well-being in its patients. Every design element—from material selection to furniture layout—has been carefully planned to enhance the user experience and optimize space functionality.

Thanks to the vision of Juanjo Rojo and the excellence of TAU Cerámica materials, the Dr. Juanjo López Trauma Clinic stands as a benchmark for contemporary medical architecture, where design, functionality, and comfort come together in perfect harmony.
